Throughout the history of the walled-city, no other voice captures the grandeur, the ruin and the desolation of Intramuros, more than Nick Joaquin's poet-herald Bitoy Camacho. Exceprts delivered by Ms. Zenaida Amador and Mr. Leo Martinez from Joaquin's masterpiece "A portrait of an Artist as Filipino," Bitoy conjures-up a magnificent portrait, a dear and tender remembrance of a city fallen. But Bitoy Camacho was born in the city fell by the war. How would this most poignant of time travelers react if he were to see Intramuros today? Intramuros is a survivor city. Through conqueror after conqueror; devastation after devastation; this City within a City has risen again and again. And each time she does, she sees the city growing even stronger in concentric circle around her fabled walls. This special presentation will make one discover why she remains our Intramuros of Memory.
