Sa Sariling Lupa: Cultural Tourism Documentaries was conceptualized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in 1999 in collaboration with the Department of Tourism (DOT), the National Historical Institute (NHI), and the National Museum (NM) for the promotion of cultural tourism in the Philippines' ten anchor destinations, namely: Rizal / Laguna, Davao, Cebu, Baguio / Banaue, Laoag / Vigan, Bohol, Palawan, Manila, Intramuros, and Panay.
Manila: Uptown and Downtown is one of three most recently produced Sa Sariling Lupa Cultural Tourism Documentaries, by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Like all cities, Manila has an uptown and downtown. Unlike the uptowns and downtowns all over the world, Manila's mix is a collection of faith and folklore; attitude and posturing; populous vibrancy and sophisticated echoings of other culture. The Manila we explore reverberates the dynamics that blends the streetwise and the nostalgic; the irreverent with a fatalistic blatant pseudo-western posturing with a uniquely Pinoy-charm. Manila - in a day in its life...in the uptown and downtown, is well-contained in this DVD pack for cultural entertainment and tourism information.
